This razor has a straight 2 1/4" shaving edge with an extremely thin blade of just 2.2mm. This makes it very light and therefore easy to manipulate and handle when shaving. The corners have been rounded off for a safer shave - this is a great feature for those new to straight razor shaving!
This style of shaving razor inspired by the Japanese Kamisori, but I wanted it to be finished with a Western influence in which the bevels are symmetrical.
The razor's blade received a differential heat treatment to achieve the beautiful Hamon line that show the separation between the very hard steel of the cutting edge (light in color) and the back of the knife (dark in color). This is done both for esthetics and to have less vibrations during use.
The handle is hand wrapped using brown dyed natural hemp chord in a double knot pattern and finished with beeswax to make it water resistant. This provides both a comfortable and tacky grip in hand.
The blade has been sharpened by hand on a stone, then stropped with both a buffing compound and leather strop to achieve a shave ready edge.
